Graduate School of Life Sciences

The Cardiovascular Research PhD Programme is one of the 14 PhD programmes offered by the Graduate School of Life Sciences of Utrecht University.

The Utrecht Graduate School of Life Sciences is an unique collaboration between the University Medical Center Utrecht (former Faculty of Medicine), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Science and the Hubrecht Institute.

Within the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) the Cardiovascular Research programme comprises the research activities of eight divisions (Heart and Lungs, Internal Medicine and Dermatology, Laboratories and Pharmacy, Surgical Specialties, Imaging, Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care, Neurosciences and Paediatrics); within Utrecht University (UU) extensive collaborations exist with Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology and the Proteomics Center.

In the new strategy ‘UMC Utrecht 3.0’ research is concentrated in six programmes with each a limited number of disease targets. The Cardiovascular Research PhD programme is embedded in the Circulatory Health programme.
