Education

As in other PhD programmes of the Utrecht University Graduate School of Life Sciences, the PhD candidates of the Cardiovascular Research programme engage in training during the entire PhD period, particularly during the first few years. The proposed training programme, which must be listed in its entirety, should be constituted as follows:

  • training should comprise a minimum of 5 credits for each year of research appointment, which will be at least 2 years and no more than 4 years.
  • at least 40% of the total credits should be spent on programme-specific courses.
  • at least 20% of the total credits should be spent on general courses.
  • at most 20% of the total credits should be spent on symposia/conferences.

(1 credit or EC = 28 hr, 1.5 credit or EC = 1 week, 1 day = 0.3 EC)

If you want to follow courses or other training elements not accredited by the Graduate School of Life Sciences, please contact the programme coordinator. In summary:

1.  General courses – min. 20% EC

2.  Cardiovascular courses – min. 40% EC

3.  Electives courses (including repair of deficits) – max. 40% EC

 

Participation of PhD candidates of other PhD programmes

PhD candidates of other Graduate School of Life Sciences PhD programmes are welcome to participate in the courses of the Cardiovascular Research programme, provided that the capacity of the course is not exceeded.
